Mike is here to help you make his creation “Woven Spectrum.” It appears to be a woven wonder but it is only an optical illusion made to appear woven. Mike will show you how to construct it with his fast, easy method. Woven Spectrum finishes to 71” square, perfect for your wall or coverlet.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 

  • Pattern and kit or fabrics as needed according to the pattern 
  • 12 paper plates to sort colors 
  • Sewing machine with accurate quarter inch sewing machine foot
  • Basic sewing machine supplies (needle, pins, scissors, seam ripper) 
  • Black thread works best for most of this project
  • Rotary Cutter
  • 6” x 24” and 6” x 12” are handy ruler sizes 
  • Large cutting mat
  • Pins 
  • Iron (with or without steam) 
  • Freezer paper (it would be easy to share) 
  • Frixion pen 

PREPARATION BEFORE CLASS:

  • Please have fabrics pressed before class
  • If you would like to have a HUGE head start on this class, sew the (96) 3/4” black strips to both sides of the (48) 3-1/2” colorful strips (four of each color) and press to the colorful fabric. Make sure your 1/4” seam allowance is right on the money - the finished strip sets should measure 4” wide!
