Civil Warriors Club—4th Wednesday—6 PM

Purchase any of the four Civil War block of the month kits and you are a member of the “Civil Warriors” meeting the fourth Wednesday evening of the month at 6 PM.  Free fat quarters for completed blocks and a chance to win a free backing for a quilt.  Bonnie showcases civil war projects and guides you through the journey of making your very own Civil War Commemorative quilt.
The Civil War quilts feature reproduction fabrics identical to pattern requirements as well as stories surrounding the Civil War ear.
The Tribute, 2010, features stories of important battles of the conflict.
The Chronicles, 2011 features narratives of twelve women who encountered their own struggles on the home front while their husbands were away.
Civil War Journal, 2012, focuses on a different aspect of the war , the children of the 1860’s. Some joined the army and fought as soldiers. Others took on adult roles at home, farming the land or helping the family survive while men were away at battle.
Come join the group, learn about the era and make a memorable quilt as you go.

Farmer’s Wife Club—4th Wednesday—7 PM
The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt
(Letters from the 1920’s farm wives and the 111 blocks they inspired)

In 1922, The Farmer’s Wife magazine posed this question to their readers: “If you had a daughter of marriageable age, would you, in light of your own experience, have her marry a farmer?” The magazine at that time had 750,000 subscribers and received over 7,000 letters. The 42 best answers to this question are included in this book, along with the traditional quilt blocks they inspired.

In the Farmer’s Wife book, Laurie Aaron Hird provides everything to inspire you to create your own 111-block sampler quilt. No two blocks are the same. Come in and see Club leader Katie’s 12-month plan to guide you to completion of your very own “Farmer’s Wife” sampler in 2012.

Katie has special bonuses available only to Farmer’s Wife Club members. Join Katie the fourth Wednesday night of each month in 2012 at 7 PM, immediately following the Civil Warriors.
