The blocks in this quilt are based upon an 1847 Baltimore Bride's Quilt made by Mary Ann West. The original cotton quilt had 25 blocks and was made in turkey reds and greens of that period and was in the collection of Rita Wolochuk. Inspired by this lovely quilt, Lake View Primitives has selected 12 of the blocks and converted them to wool applique. The quilt is stunning with the rich colors of hand-dyed wool against black flannel. Patterns included in kit prices.

Sewing Love for Haiti

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with 80% of the population living in abject poverty.  Use your sewing skills, make the designated project and when you turn it in you will be entered into the drawing for a Calico Hutch $100 gift certificate. Each bag you make will count for one entry into the drawing.

Holly Ravenhorst, Carolyn's (shop owner) daughter, just returned from her second mission trip to Haiti and is returning for her third trip in April 2013. The Calico Hutch wants to send down as many drawstring bags as we can for the children at Grace Emmanuel School, which is ran by Jesus in Haiti Ministries.

- Make project according to instructions found in the tutorial*

- Bring finished project to Calico Hutch by Sunday, April 14th, 2013

- Fill out one entry form for each finished knapsack

* Please note mistake in the tutorial," Step 7: Cut the strap piece you made in Step 2 into two equal pieces 33.5" inches long." It should be 43.5" inches. Thanks.
